FERN Britton has thanked her fans for the support she’s received since announcing her separation from husband Phil Vickery.<\/p>\n

The former presenter tweeted: “Hello. Thank you so much for all your kind messages. They are so appreciated. More than you know. The kindness of strangers is overwhelming.”<\/p>\n

Fern, 62, and TV chef Phil Vickery 58, shocked fans last week after revealing they had called it quits after 20 years of marriage.<\/p>\n

The author broke the news to her 66,500 Twitter followers on 29th January: “After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children.<\/p>\n

“We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.”<\/p>\n

Phil then posted the same tweet on his account.<\/p>\n

Fern’s fans who did not hesitate to show her kindness and she could not believe the outpouring of love she had received.<\/p>\n

Another said: “That\u2019s a shame, all the best to you both for the future.”<\/p>\n

A third added: “I’m so sorry to hear this Fern. My thoughts are with you, Phil and your family at this very difficult and sensitive time.”<\/p>\n

The Mirror<\/a> reported the news will not come as a surprise to those close to them, after a source told the publication they were not even speaking to each other.<\/p>\n

The revelation comes just after their daughter Winnie\u2019s 18th<\/sup> birthday and one month after Fern\u2019s father Tony passed away.<\/p>\n

Fern married the\u00a0celebrity chef<\/a>\u00a0in 2000 following her split from TV executive Clive Jones in the same year.<\/p>\n

Winnie is the only child they have together.<\/p>\n
