Melanie Griffith was diagnosed with epilepsy six years ago while she was married to Antonio Banderas<\/span><\/section>\n

But since their split in 2014, the Working Girl star\u2019s seizures have stopped and she believes her recovery was mainly due to their divorce.<\/p>\n

Speaking about her condition at a Woman\u2019s Brain Health Initiative in Los Angeles chaired by fellow actress Sharon Stone \u2013 who suffered a stroke in 2001 \u2013 Melanie, 60, explained: \u201cI was extremely stressed out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery seizure that I had was at a point when I was extremely stressed.\u201d<\/p>\n

She told the panel that she knew something was seriously wrong when she had two seizures while aboard a yacht during the Cannes Film Festival with her husband of 18 years who was promoting a film.<\/p>\n

On her return to the US, she continued: \u201cI was diagnosed with epilepsy and nobody had said to me over a period of 20 years, no one paid enough attention to even diagnose me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Melanie, who has daughter Stella, 21, with Antonio, 57, as well as son Alexander, 32, with second husband Steven Bauer, and Fifty Shades actress Dakota Johnson, 27, from her first husband Don Johnson, who she remarried in 1989, says now she manages her illness with medication but jokingly admits it is no coincidence that her health improved after her break-up: \u201cI\u2019ve been on a drug for four years.<\/p>\n

“I haven\u2019t had a seizure which is amazing. But I got divorced, which is a real healer for me.”<\/p>\n

Bake Off trio have the ingredients for special Christmas show<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Former Bake Off stars Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins are to reunite with queen of cakes Mary Berry for a one-off Christmas special.<\/p>\n

The trio \u2013 who all declined to join Paul Hollywood when the show was poached by Channel 4 \u2013 will join forces once again for Surprise Party. In the hour-long BBC One show, Mary, 82, will cook a Christmas lunch while Mel, 49, and Sue, 48, stage a party and bring some well-needed festive cheer to a community centre in South Wales.<\/p>\n

Since quitting the tent Mary has launched her own series, Mary Berry Everyday, while Mel and Sue are lined up to present a revival of classic game show The Generation Game.<\/p>\n

And Mel has also announced that she is to tread the boards in Shakespeare\u2019s Much Ado About Nothing at the Rose Theatre in Kingston, Surrey, next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
