Here she is, all smiles, happy and glowing. Her hair is perfect. Her nails are always done, even her toenails look good. This girl has prepped to the hilt. She\u2019s still in that <a title=\"10 Pieces of Advice For A New Relationship\" href=\"https:\/\/www.divorcedgirlsmiling.com\/10-pieces-of-advice-for-a-new-relationship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new relationship phase<\/a> when she\u2019s got to look perfect for her new boyfriend.<\/p>\n<p>But the biggest thing is, she\u2019s got that look on her face. You know the one. It\u2019s the look of being completely infatuated and in love, and the reason you know it so well is that <i>you <\/i>once had this look. He can say nothing that isn\u2019t brilliant. She giggles every time he makes a joke, even if it isn\u2019t funny. And the worst one, he looks at <i>her <\/i>the exact same way.It doesn\u2019t matter if your ex wanted the divorce or <i>you <\/i>were the one who broke up.\u00a0 In either scenario, meeting the new girlfriend is brutal. I know because I experienced it.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some <b>do\u2019s and don\u2019ts<\/b> that might make things easier when you come face to face with your old guy\u2019s new girlfriend.<\/p>\n<h2>Can you believe he has a new girlfriend already??<\/h2>\n<p>Believe it. It&#8217;s not uncommon, and you can handle it! Here&#8217;s how.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Don\u2019t be rude.<\/h2>\n<p>Actually, be really, really nice. There are several reasons I feel this way. <a title=\"6 Benefits of Mediation for Kids\" href=\"https:\/\/www.divorcedgirlsmiling.com\/6-benefits-of-mediation-for-kids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">First of all, if you have kids,<\/a> they will appreciate this and it will make them so happy that everyone is getting along. Other reasons you should be more than polite: it will not only make everyone have respect for you, but <i>you <\/i>will have respect for yourself. You\u2019ll feel great, trust me. Walk right up to her and shake her hand. Even if it\u2019s difficult, do it.\u00a0 You can\u2019t lose.<\/p>\n<h2>2. <b>Do <\/b>remember that even if she wasn\u2019t in the picture, you and your guy would not be together, so there\u2019s no reason to be bitter or jealous.<\/h2>\n<p>And, if he broke up with you for <i>her, <\/i>just keep telling yourself that <a title=\"Rita Morris, LMHC, M.A., Certified Life Coach and Parent Coach, AParentsPath.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.divorcedgirlsmiling.com\/rita-morris-lmhc-m-a-certified-life-coach-and-parenting-coach-aparentspath-com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">your kids <\/a>need to come first and that you are being selfless by being kind. You are also being classy and gracious and I promise in the future, things will change. You will be happy again. You won&#8217;t always feel this angry about her.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>3. <b>Don\u2019t <\/b>be overly nice and\/or fake to the point of being obnoxious.<\/h2>\n<p>I was once <a title=\"Dating After Divorce: Advice, Tips, and Why This Is An Exciting Time!\" href=\"https:\/\/www.divorcedgirlsmiling.com\/dating-after-divorce-advice-tips-and-why-this-is-an-exciting-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dating someone<\/a> and met his ex wife. She was so over-the-top energetic meeting me that it was uncomfortable. It seemed really non-genuine. Be really sweet, but keep your distance a little bit. Everyone knows you\u2019re not going to be best friends with her.<\/p>\n<h2>4. <b>Don\u2019t <\/b>compare yourself with her physically or otherwise.<\/h2>\n<p>She might be really pretty. She might have an impressive career. She might have a killer body. She might be 10 years younger than you. Who cares? Try to focus on the things you like about yourself and things you are proud of. Just like yourself.<\/p>\n<h2>5. <b>Do <\/b>remember that the things about him that bugged the crap out of you will surely start to bug <i>her <\/i>if they don\u2019t already.<\/h2>\n<p>Hopefully he has learned from mistakes he made in the relationship with you, but generally, he isn\u2019t going to be a different person with her. He\u2019s going to be him. Whether she can take it for the long haul remains to be seen. You couldn\u2019t. Maybe she can. But, it doesn\u2019t matter.
