RUTH Langsford and Eamonn Holmes\u2019 divorce could spiral into an increasingly drawn-out battle, with pals admitting they hope the pair will avoid a Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie-style showdown.<\/p>\n

The former This Morning<\/a> presenters, who announced their separation in May last year, remain entangled in legal wrangling following disputes over their finances and needing to finalise arrangements for their\u00a0dog, Maggie.<\/p>\n

The process is said to be frustrating not only for Ruth <\/a>and Eamonn<\/a>‘s new girlfriend Katie Alexander,<\/a> but also those closest to the couple.<\/p>\n

A family source told The Sun: “It’s been taking forever on sorting the divorce<\/span>, and it\u2019s frustrating everyone.<\/p>\n

“Eamonn took a week off from GB News specifically to push things along.<\/p>\n

“Ruth has been patient, but she\u2019s now saying, \u2018Come on, this needs to be sorted.\u2019<\/p>\n

“She wanted it done by her birthday [March 17], but here we are.”<\/p>\n

One issue that both sides want to finalise is Maggie the dog.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been over a year since Eamonn has seen her, which has been particularly painful as he\u00a0considers her a second child.<\/p>\n

They continued: “Eamonn posted a video of her recently, but it was actually from over a year ago.<\/p>\n

“Everyone\u2019s asking why the divorce isn\u2019t done yet. It\u2019s all tied up with finances.<\/p>\n

“At this point, friends and family are hoping it doesn’t turn into a Brad and Angelina situation<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

Eamonn and Ruth, both 65, broke up last May<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Sun on Sunday revealed how Eamonn was confronted by a devastated Ruth after she discovered him chatting on the phone to another woman<\/a> in April last year at their\u00a0Surrey<\/a>\u00a0home.<\/p>\n

The pair had a showdown, but a few weeks later she found messages on his shared laptop \u2014\u00a0triggering their marriage split<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was the first time\u00a0Ruth\u00a0<\/a>found out\u00a0Eamonn<\/a> was secretly in contact with another woman.<\/p>\n

A source said of the phone row: \u201cEamonn thought he was in the house alone while he was chatting on the phone.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Ruth could hear him from elsewhere in the house and was totally horrified.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe confronted Eamonn.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was quite a shock \u2014 for both of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cEamonn had no idea Ruth was in the house at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a huge blow to Ruth, particularly as she had been devoted to caring for Eamonn during his physical\u00a0health<\/a>\u00a0issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo discover he was sharing intimate chats with another woman was a real kick in the teeth for Ruth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eamonn has since\u00a0gone public about his romance<\/a>\u00a0with relationship counsellor\u00a0Katie<\/a>, who at 43 is 22 years his junior.<\/p>\n

Friends say Eamonn, who has been seen using a wheelchair<\/a> due to mobility issues, may soon propose<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following the split, Ruth, who was with Eamonn for 27 years, said: \u201cI\u2019m not delighted my marriage<\/a> is over, but I\u2019ve accepted it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m trying to now embrace the fact I\u2019m single and can make choices that are just about me.<\/p>\n

\u201cDivorce is very painful. Most don\u2019t do it in the public eye, with everybody having an opinion. But that\u2019s the nature of my job.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always had that and if you can\u2019t cope, you shouldn\u2019t be doing this job.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also insisted it hasn\u2019t put her off finding love again.<\/p>\n

She told Woman & Home<\/a> magazine: \u201cI\u2019m quite fine being on my own, but not forever.<\/p>\n

\u201cRelationship breakdowns<\/a> are very difficult, but you deal with it and have to move on.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It\u2019s a choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ruth hosts Loose Women<\/span> twice a week and covers Thursday on shopping channel QVC<\/a>, banking \u00a32.5million last year.<\/p>\n
