As Jeff Bezos, the 61-year-old billionaire, prepares to marry former news anchor Lauren S\u00e1nchez in a grand ceremony in Venice, one key item has taken centre stage before the celebrations: an ‘ironclad’ prenuptial agreement.<\/p>\n

After his \u00a3130 billion ($165 billion) divorce from ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, Bezos is ensuring that history doesn’t repeat itself. One of the world’s richest men, Bezos and Scott divorced in 2019 after 25 years of marriage. The couple married in 1993, long before Amazon<\/a> became a global powerhouse, and had no prenuptial agreement.<\/p>\n

As a result, the divorce settlement made Scott the owner of 4% of Amazon’s stock, worth around \u00a330 billion ($38 billion). It remains one of the largest divorce settlements in history, and given that experience, it’s perhaps no surprise that Bezos’ forthcoming marriage to S\u00e1nchez is being handled with far more legal caution.<\/p>\n

This Prenup Will Survive Any Legal Challenge<\/h2>\n

According to legal experts, the new prenuptial agreement between Bezos and S\u00e1nchez is being considered one of the most intricate ever.<\/p>\n

‘This is more than just paperwork,’ Alphonse Provinziano, a California-based family lawyer told Radar Online<\/a>. ‘It’s designed to survive any legal challenge.’ He likened it to a business merger in terms of scale and scrutiny.

According to reports, Bezos’ legal team insisted that the prenup be finalised before the wedding could move forward. S\u00e1nchez is understood to have her own legal representation and was given ample time to review and negotiate the terms.<\/p>\n

California law requires prenuptial agreements to be fair and transparent. This means full financial disclosure from both parties, which is particularly important in Bezos’ case, as his assets are tied to multiple companies and complex financial structures.<\/p>\n

While the specific terms remain confidential, experts say the agreement likely includes key clauses to protect Bezos’ massive fortune, estimated at around \u00a3176 billion ($223 billion).<\/p>\n
