class=\"mol-para-with-font\">A Russian oligarch at the centre of Britain&#8217;s costliest divorce has won his latest battle with his estranged wife over a court order to seize his \u00a3300m super yacht.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Bailiffs acting for the High Court in London had taken control of the 115m yacht Luna owned by oil and gas tycoon Farkhad Akhmedov when it docked in Dubai.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">But in a blow to the oligarch&#8217;s former wife Tatiana, appeal court judges in the country overturned the ruling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The Court of Appeal of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) said that the country&#8217;s lower court had no power to seize the ship &#8211; and agreed with victory at the DIFC Court of Appeal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;The judges unanimously agreed with lawyers acting for the trust that the lower court had no power to interfere with Luna, being one of the trust&#8217;s assets, and should not have done so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;Not only was this obviously the right decision, but the fact that the judges gave it so quickly only goes to show how important they felt it was to correct an earlier decision that should never have been given.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;I am sure that a lot of influential local business people and foreign investors in Dubai will be very relieved that the DIFC Court of Appeal has moved so swiftly to undo the reputational damage that has undoubtedly Britain.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Mr Akhmedov, a practising Muslim, has always refused to accept the English court\u2019s decision.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">He argues that the couple were Russian citizens when they married in Moscow in 1993 &#8211; and continued to be Russian citizens when they divorced in Moscow in 2000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Since their divorce in Moscow,\u00a0Mr Akhmedov says he has provided lavishly for Tatiana with a jet-set lifestyle complete with an English country mansion, valuable cars and a retinue of servants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">His 41-year-old wife has already received the contents of the couple&#8217;s former family home in Surrey \u2013 worth almost \u00a32.5 million \u2013 his \u00a3350,000 Aston Martin and the \u00a390 million art collection.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">But despite the Russian divorce, two years ago the English Court awarded Mrs Akhmedova 41 per cent of the fortune made by her ex-husband from the sale of his interest in Northgas more than a dozen years after the dissolution of their
