Not only was Cruise under fire for his beliefs in Scientology, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/archive\/cover-story-tom-cruise-katie-holmes-what-really-happened-vol-78-no-4\/\">People reports<\/a>, but Holmes also wasn\u2019t getting the hard-hitting roles she dreamed of.<\/p>\n<p>As one source said, \u201cShe thought [being with Tom] was going to help make her career, but it didn\u2019t.\u201d Working with Holmes on set also meant Cruise may pay a visit \u2014 something directors weren\u2019t too keen on. And Holmes also pulled out of movies, like\u00a0<em>Factory Girl,\u00a0<\/em>to appease Cruise. People notes just seconds before Cruise was set to film an action-packed scene for\u00a0<em>Oblivion,\u00a0<\/em>he received a call from his wife. When Holmes caught wind that Cruise may be planning to ship Suri off to an elite training division of the Church of Scientology, she acted fast and finalized a divorce settlement in 10 days, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/katie-holmes-long-road-to-freedom-from-tom-cruise\">the Daily Beast claims<\/a>. Reports say one of the agreements outlined in the settlement was that Suri would have no relationship with Scientology \u2014 and this also put a rift between Cruise and his young daughter.<\/p>\n<p>As for other agreements in the settlement, rumor has it that Cruise also demanded that Holmes couldn\u2019t \u201cembarrass\u201d him in any way. This meant she wasn\u2019t allowed to date in public for five years post-divorce or discuss him or the Church of Scientology in public. While we can\u2019t guarantee that\u2019s what was written in the papers, it does seem odd that it was five years after the divorce when Holmes finally eased up about her relationship with Jamie Foxx in public.<\/p>\n<h2>This is how much money she got from the divorce<\/h2>\n<p>Holmes wanted to live with Suri in New York \u2014 so of course, it was important to have enough funding and child support to make this a reality. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/radaronline.com\/exclusives\/2016\/09\/real-reason-katie-holmes-wont-go-public-jamie-foxx-exposed\/\">Radar Online says<\/a> for child support, she was awarded $4.8 million. And for herself, she was given an additional $5 million.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the money, People reports Holmes got the one request she wished for most of all \u2014 and that was full custody of Suri. Cruise was also given generous visitation rights, so everyone won in this scenario.
