Mirror.co&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p>A dad who fought a \u00a3170,000 legal battle after taking his daughter on a term-time holiday was convicted over the unauthorised trip today.<\/p>\n<p>Jon Platt was hauled to court in 2015 when he refused to pay a \u00a360 fine for going on the family holiday to Disney World.<\/p>\n<p>Magistrates initially angered council chiefs on the Isle of Wight by saying the 46-year-old had no case to answer.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was upheld by the High Court &#8211; Photo Agency)<\/span><br \/>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"read-more-links\">\n<h5 class=\"publication-theme-icon publication-theme-border\">Read More<\/h5>\n<\/aside>\n<p>The businessman\u2019s lawyers unsuccessfully argued the case should be thrown out of court once and for all.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Greatorex QC told Isle of Wight Magistrates\u2019 Court the school did not make clear he could be given a fixed-penalty notice.<\/p>\n<p>He also claimed it was \u201cgrossly unfair to criminalise\u201d Platt &#8211;
