In this article, Elaina Bales examines the litigation risks that will arise due to the LIBOR changes and what steps business should take now to minimise these risks. What’s happening to LIBOR? LIBOR is the benchmark interest rate at which major global banks lend to one another in the interbank market. Article content continued Anova has turned away more than 2,550 amid COVID-19 because of a full shelter, and because people are staying longer than a month because of a lack of housing in London. Megan Walker, head of the London Abused Women’s Centre, said she was seeing girls as young as 12 who had been trafficked come to her agency for help. Redundancies surged to a record high of 370,000 in the third quarter of the year with young workers hit hardest, official figures show. The number of UK employees on payrolls dropped slightly last month and has fallen by 819,000 between February and November due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. One-third of those jobs losses have been in the hospitality industry which yesterday renewed its calls for more financial support as thousands more pubs, bars and restaurants were told they must close under tier 3 restrictions.  Some 1.7 million people are officially […]

In pop culture at least, solving mysteries has always led investigators to sail close to the wind. A friend and fellow investigator pointed out recently that in one outing Sherlock Holmes stages an accident, lies to witness, is outed as a cocaine addict, daubs himself in fake blood, and tries to steal blackmail material. Modern consulting detectives are more scrupulous, if less likely to be serialised. However, the recent judgment Gerrard v ENRC and Diligence has put a spotlight on a discreet area of investigation: surveillance activities in the context of litigation support. If George Herbert (17th century poet) was […]

The Law Commission has today [17 December 2020] launched a call for evidence to help ensure that the technology of smart contracts can thrive in England and Wales. However, there are questions […]
